Upson County is rich in history, cultural activities and recreation. Thomaston features a turn-of-the-century courthouse and outdoor recreation opportunities, including an 18-hole golf course, mountain biking at Gerald I. Lawhorn Scouting Base, and canoeing, kayaking and hiking at Sprewell.
Bluff Outdoor Recreation Area is Located in our downtown. You can see a movie in the beautifully restored Ritz Theatre or stop by the local Thomaston-Upson Arts Council to admire the wonderful local artwork that is on display.
